With mild June weather, many people choose this time of year to build raised beds to show off new shrubs or flowers in their landscape. Loose pulverized topsoil with some compost mixed in can grow just about anything. One cubic yard will spread approximately 160 sq. ft at a 2″ depth. Measure the length and width of your area to figure your square footage. Ideally you would want at least 8″ of good rich soil in which to plant. Top off with mulch to preserve moisture for your new plantings.
